Special cabin touches and rose served on 14 February
DUBAI – Emirates is marking the Valentine’s season by strengthening connections between Africa and some of the world’s most sought-after romantic destinations.
The Dubai-based carrier is offering increased frequencies and themed onboard experiences designed to elevate journeys for couples travelling in February. From Venice’s canals to the beaches of the Maldives, travellers from southern and eastern Africa are being linked to key global gateways via Dubai.
The airline currently operates four daily flights from Johannesburg, two daily from Cape Town, and will increase Nairobi services to three daily flights from 1st March. All services connect through Dubai, enabling smooth onward travel and flexible itineraries.
Expanded frequencies
Passengers departing from Johannesburg can choose from four daily departures, offering flexibility across morning, afternoon and evening schedules. Cape Town is served twice daily, while Nairobi’s increase to three daily services from 1st March further strengthens connectivity between East Africa and the Emirates network.
The expanded frequencies allow travellers to plan short breaks or extended itineraries with ease. Through Dubai, passengers can connect onwards to destinations including Paris, Venice and the Maldives, as well as other cities across Europe, Asia and the Indian Ocean.
The airline is also promoting Dubai as more than just a transit hub. Couples have the option of incorporating a 24 to 48-hour stopover in the city, allowing time to explore its dining, retail and cultural attractions before continuing to their final destination.
Romantic touches
On 14 February (today), Emirates will introduce themed elements across all cabins to mark Valentine’s Day. Aircraft cabins will feature red mood lighting, while passengers will receive sweet treats and gift boxes.

In First Class, customers will be welcomed with a glass of Dom Pérignon Rosé 2009. Business Class passengers will be offered Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial. These additions form part of a broader seasonal programme aimed at enhancing the onboard experience.

Lounges across the airline’s global network will also feature themed menus during the period, extending the Valentine’s atmosphere beyond the aircraft cabin.
Elevated experience
The in-flight entertainment platform, ice, will showcase a curated selection of romance-themed films and music, allowing passengers to set the tone for their journey. The airline states that the curated content complements the seasonal onboard service enhancements.
Emirates is also highlighting its standard service features for couples travelling together. These include generous baggage allowances and access to the Emirates Skywards loyalty programme. Through Skywards, eligible members may redeem rewards such as celebratory cakes and potential cabin upgrades, subject to availability.
The airline’s network breadth enables multi-destination itineraries, combining city breaks with beach escapes or cultural tours. With seamless transfers in Dubai and coordinated flight schedules, travellers from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Nairobi are able to reach destinations across six continents through a single hub.
Bookings are available through the airline’s website and authorised travel partners.
